Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 29, 2026 • How Spectra and ARS Labs protect and handle your information.
1. Overview
Your privacy is foundational to our mission. This Privacy Policy describes how Spectra (“we”, “our”), developed by ARS Labs, collects, processes, and safeguards candidate data when you use our mock interview platform. We do not sell your personal data or use your interview recordings to train public foundation models.
2. Information We Collect
- Account Information: When registering, we collect your name, email address, and country. For Google Sign-In, we receive your verified Google identity token (`email`, `name`, `sub`).
- Optional Candidate Profile: University, expected graduation year, target role track, and optional professional bio.
- System & Device Logs: Standard IP addresses for rate limiting, connection timestamps, and anonymous client telemetry.
3. Camera, Microphone & Ephemeral Audio/Video Processing
Ephemeral-Only Media Handling
Camera and microphone feeds are captured in your browser only when you explicitly grant browser permissions and press “Start Recording”.
- Encrypted In-Transit: Media files are streamed over encrypted TLS (HTTPS) to the server.
- Immediate Deletion: Once your video/audio responses have been analyzed by the evaluation engine and your coaching rubric report is generated, temporary media files are immediately and permanently deleted from our backend servers.
- We never store your raw webcam video files permanently on long-term storage or publish them.
4. Local Device Draft Storage
To protect your work from internet drops, accidental tab closures, or power loss, Spectra stores active in-progress answer drafts in your browser's local IndexedDB storage. This data resides exclusively on your device and is cleared automatically when you finalize and submit your interview or discard the session.
5. 5-Interview Data Retention & Auto-Pruning
To ensure data hygiene and conserve database capacity on our free-tier hosting architecture, candidate accounts maintain a rolling history of their 5 most recent interview sessions.
Whenever a 6th interview is completed, the oldest session and its associated evaluation records are automatically and permanently purged from the database.
6. Data Rights & Contact
Under GDPR, CCPA, and applicable privacy laws, you have the right to request access to or permanent deletion of your account and interview data. To request data deletion or ask questions about our privacy practices, email ARS Labs at arslabs23@gmail.com.
